I have worked closely with a residential home for people with Dementia.  They are one of the homes that are adopting the ethos of the Butterfly Project; in short this looks at how to enliven the residential experience for people with dementia that live in a care home.  One of the actions that the Butterfly Project encourages is spaces that hold reminisces for the residents.  The work below shows a little of the beginning of creating a local pub environment.  We first installed the pub at the Expressions show, it was then reinstalled back at Humphrey Repton House.
The pub, has many common elements of an old pub but it also holds aspects that are particular to the home; We created a ‘Fame Wall’ using pictures of the residents and giving them some treatment to make them personal.  I also made ‘the locals’ montages so everyone could feel like they belonged.  Finally we hung a set of pictures that were created in the ‘My Favorite Things’ workshop.
